Essex Walks

The Essex countryside has some of the most varied and beautiful scenery one could wish to see.

This Is Essex has teamed up with the Essex Chronicle and Essex County Council to provide six walks, each illustrated and mapped, which aim to give a flavour of what the county has to offer the rambler.

NB: Each walk can be viewed either as a quick-loading .jpg image, or as an Adobe Acrobat Reader file. The Acrobat Reader files are quite large and are only recommended if you have a broadband web connection. To download a version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, click here

Essex Ramblers are booted up to be marching out in force in the coming months.

The Rochford & Castle Point Group of the Ramblers Association has published their programme of summer and autumn walks. It holds something for everyone from leisurely strolls in the country to a 100 mile county-wide walk for serious stompers.

The total programme covers 58 walks from August to the end of November.

Highlights of the programme are a series of short walks of four miles each starting in Thaxted on August 14 and the Essex Area 100 mile walk starting at Chipping Ongar in the west of the county and culminating at Tolleshunt Major in the east between September 3rd and the 11th. There’s also a (by comparison) half marathon stroll around Rochford on August 14.

Full details of the ramblers walks can be found at http://www.btinternet.com/~bta.wga/rochford-ramblers
